“Leadership is a journey from rebellion to generosity.”
Baptiste Raymond, FounderIndignation
Day 1.In March 2010, my plane nearly hit the ground landing in Goma. The runway had been half-swallowed by a recent volcanic eruption. The pilot hit the brakes just before the lava flow. Visiting Mugunga, then the largest refugee camp in the world, was the real crash. Two colleagues broke into tears on the drive back. I didn't find the words. Shortly after, I was facilitating a roundtable with local civil society leaders.
This lesson with no teacher was foundational. Fifteen years across the public, private, and social sectors have only confirmed it:
Legitimacy cannot be claimed.
